CEPOL

As a learning organisation, CEPOL approaches cybercrime training from a perspective of where the agency can best optimise its impact, partnering with relevant organisations and focusing on mainstreaming cybercrime into its overall learning and training strategy and corresponding output.

CEPOL continuously supports the development and delivery of training primarily for senior police and specialised officers with a portfolio of activities in the cybercrime areas of cyber-attacks, non-cash payment fraud, child sexual exploitation, cyber-forensics and electronic evidence. Their work plan comprises residential courses, webinars, online learning modules and exchange programmes.

Moreover, CEPOL leads the delivery of ad-hoc training within the European Financial Coalition (EFC) that brings together key actors from LE, the private sector and civil society in Europe with the common goal of fighting the commercial sexual exploitation of children online .

CEPOL actively participates in the EU Policy Cycle and is a member of EC3's Programme Board and ECTEG, with a view to help developing strategies to fight cybercrime. Within the EU Policy Cycle, CEPOL coordinates with its partners to prepare a list of training courses based on the needs of EU MS; the list is part of CEPOL's work programme .

In light of the European Commission Communication on the European Law Enforcement Training Scheme (LETS), that outlines the need to achieve effective coordination between Member States and EU agencies, and taking into account the work by international organisations such as Interpol and the United Nations, CEPOL is paying particular attention to reaching functional synergies amongst the concerned stakeholders. In the new legal base of CEPOL and in the LETS communication, the organisation will be tasked to conduct Strategic Training Needs Assessments and to coordinate EU level training.
